The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has produced the monthly gaming revenue totals for casinos in Atlantic City, and the operators have done quite well for themselves. The New Jersey casinos earned a total of $211.7 million in gross gaming revenues for January 2023. This was a huge milestone for the industry, marking the 12th consecutive month that the state saw over $200 million in earnings.

January was a successful month for casinos located in Atlantic City. The $211.7 million generated for the month is the first time the state has hit over $200 million in a decade. The amount was a more than 15% increase from January 2022 and only a small 1.8% decrease from December's earnings.
According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, retail casino earnings were up. The regulator showed that retail earnings consisted of 48.4% of the total earnings from all verticals. When considering all gambling industries, the state actually earned just over $436 million for the month.
The retail casino total was up just over 14%. The online gaming space brought in over $152 million, a 10.9% increase from the previous year. Sports betting generated just over $72 million, a more than 20% increase from 2022.
The solid figures from early on in 2023 could be a sign that NJ casino games will lead the industry to a record year.
