This was a huge milestone for the industry, marking the 12th consecutive month that the state saw over $200 million in earnings.

Monthly Total Breakdown

January was a successful month for casinos located in Atlantic City. The $211.7 million generated for the month is the first time the state has hit over $200 million in a decade. The amount was a more than 15% increase from January 2022 and only a small 1.8% decrease from December's earnings.

According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, retail casino earnings were up. The regulator showed that retail earnings consisted of 48.4% of the total earnings from all verticals. When considering all gambling industries, the state actually earned just over $436 million for the month.

The retail casino total was up just over 14%. The online gaming space brought in over $152 million, a 10.9% increase from the previous year. Sports betting generated just over $72 million, a more than 20% increase from 2022.
