The American Legion Department of New Jersey is working on a new project to help local veterans find employment. The Department has partnered with New Jersey casinos in Atlantic City to host a special job fair. As many as 1,200 job positions are available, and veterans can attend the function to apply for various positions.

More Details on the Job Fair

The Casino Control Commission will host the job fair on April 25 from 9 am to 1 pm. The 2024 Casino Career Fair will be the sixth fair that the Department and Casino Control Commission have hosted together to help provide employment for veterans.

The event is open to all job seekers, but veterans will have access to additional benefits, including resources and services. Attendees will obtain career information and insight into the casino industry while networking with representatives from Atlantic City casinos.

Each casino in the area will be represented, including:

Attendees can bring their resumes and speak to casino recruiters about open job opportunities. The New Jersey Department of Labor will provide on-site resume services for those in need. Anyone interested in attending the event can pre-register via the event page.

The event is free, but pre-registration helps organizers with the event. Attendees can choose the 9 am to 11 am preferred time or 11 am to 1 pm. Select how many tickets you would like via the registration place and complete the form to attend.

All types of positions are available and require varying skills or experience. The event is open to everyone and will feature premium employment opportunities for veterans and anyone else needing a job.

Potential employees can also visit each casino online and look for career opportunities. Each operator has listed its positions on the brand website and has a simple application process.

Integrated Casino Resorts Operations Certificate Program Graduates First Class

Along with the career fair this month, New Jersey has been steadily offering individuals employment options in the casino industry. On March 5th, the first graduating class of the Integrated Casino Resorts Operations Certificate program was announced, with 23 students involved.

The program is offered at the Lloyd D. Levinson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality, and Tourism (LIGHT) and is featured at Stockton University. It lasts eight weeks and provides students with various learning opportunities within the casino industry.

The program aims to help students learn more about how New Jersey casinos operate. Each week, the course has a single focus: slot games, regulation, table games, marketing, and food and beverage.

The program is for employees already involved in the industry who want to learn how to take on higher roles in management, supervising, or executive capacities. With certification, individuals can pursue even more employment opportunities within the industry.

LIGHT plans to offer the program again next year, as it was such a success this time. The goal is to provide certifications for anyone interested in the gambling industry.

There are also considerations on the table for additional certifications from the School of Business at Stockton. Two programs are currently offered: the Integrated Casino Resort Operations option and the Certified Tourism Industry Professional certificate. The second certification allows individuals to learn more about the hospitality and leisure sectors of the industry.

New Jersey continues to be a leader in the gaming industry, so it is not surprising that the sector is focused on education and learning. We expect more learning opportunities to arise in the future, allowing individuals to find more employment and move up to new positions at Atlantic City casinos.
